Xidian University is located in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China. It is a key national university under the Ministry of Education of China. Xidian University (XDU) dedicates primarily to the electronics and information research and education, with an integration of a wide range of academic subjects covering engineering, science, humanities and social sciences. Xidian University consists of 18 schools, possessing 14 doctorate disciplines, 26 master disciplines and 63 undergraduate Programmes. In the fourth round of national assessment of first-level disciplines, Electronic Science and Technology, Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Technology are all ranked in the category of A. According to the latest ESI ranking data released in May, 2019, the disciplines of Engineering and Computer Science of Xidian University are both ranked in the top 1‰.

² Bachelor degree Programme in Chinese International Education

This Programme is designed for foreign or oversea Chinese students who are not native Chinese speakers and have a high school degree or above. Our Programme aims at cultivating the students with a comprehensive and solid understanding of China’s contemporary national conditions, Chinese language, literature, history and culture, thus prepares them for careers in teaching Chinese as a second language, cultural exchange with China, and Chinese translation. Our students will receive systematic education in Chinese language, theory of the linguistics and Chinese literature, Chinese culture and intercultural exchange as well as basic educational and research skill, which qualify them for future careers in related professions.

Students majoring in Chinese International Education mainly learn the basic knowledge and skills of Chinese and Chinese teaching, master solid Chinese language and literature theories and knowledge, systematically learn basic knowledge of Chinese culture, intercultural communication, etc., and receive basic training in education and teaching research. Possess good humanities and teacher professionalism, and have the ability to engage in relevant professional needs and preliminary scientific research capabilities. There are a total of 9 teachers in the teaching and research section, most of whom are linguistics-related majors in well-known universities at home and abroad. They are all senior first-line language teachers, and 90% have overseas work experience and study abroad background.

Students can choose Chinese Cultural Experience, Shaanxi History and Culture Special and Cross-Cultural Communication and other cultural adaptation and exploration courses, with Computer Assisted Chinese Application, Science and Technology Chinese and other arts and sciences courses as the professional characteristics of the major of International Chinese Education, relying on the practice base of museums, the joint and coordinated development of museums and university, to cultivate international inter-disciplinary talents with solid foundation, broad knowledge and strong professional ability.

² Language Learning Programme

This Programme is to provide high quality, accurate and interesting Chinese courses for overseas students who are interested in Chinese language and Chinese culture. We now offer Comprehensive Chinese, Chinese Speaking, Chinese Listening, Chinese Reading etc., to improve students" Chinese expression ability in all aspects. The current courses include Chinese Intensive Reading, Advanced Chinese Listening and Speaking, Chinese Writing, Business Chinese and other courses to further enhance the ability of using Chinese in practice. At present, the cultural experience courses include Chinese Calligraphy, Paper-cut, Tai Chi, Beijing Opera and Mask Painting, Chinese Painting, Seal Carving, Shadow Play, Introduction of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese Food, Traditional Chinese Wedding, Chinese Knots, Chinese Festival, Chinese Movie Appreciation etc.

² Foundation Programme

This Programme provides the systematic study of Chinese language (≥1 year) to international students who will take Chinese academic education. The main objective of the course is to develop students" practical Chinese language skills and remove the language barrier to academic education.

In order to assist students with entering into Chinese universities smoothly, depending on the different majors that students will study, other courses are available, such as Chinese for Mathematics, Mathematics, Chinese for Physics, Physics, Chinese for Economics and Business, Economics and Business, Research Methodology, and Chinese for Liberal Arts, etc..

² Study Tour Programme

Known as "Chang"an" in ancient times, Xi"an has a long history and plenty of cultural heritage. It was once the capital of 13 dynasties in Chinese history, has a rich cultural sites of the Qin, Han and Tang Dynasties. There are many historical sites, including the Terracotta Warriors &Horses, which is known as the "Eighth Wonder of the World", the Wild Goose Pagoda and the ancient city walls which has more than a thousand years history, the Banpo Museum and the Lantian Ape Museum, which reflect the prehistoric era of mankind. Xi"an, is now the core city of western China and the important base of research, education and industry. Many of China"s top universities and advanced enterprises have taken root and flourished in the city. Xi"an, in the midst of modernization and development, has developed a vigorous vitality.

Study tour Programmes include exchange Programmes, short-term language Programmes and other Programmes. The duration of the Programme is usually 7 days or more, and the Programme can be customized according to the student"s needs. We provide professional assistants, language translators. If there are any visiting, we will work with a professional travel agency to ensure the Programme runs smoothly. Xi"an study tour Programme is closely linked to the theme of "travel + learning".
