1. About SEU

　　Southeast University (SEU), located at Nanjing, the ancient capital city of six dynasties, is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in China with profound cultural heritage, its origin can be traced back to 1902. The university now comprises 33 schools or departments with 77 undergraduate deciplines, 33 disciplines authorized to confer PhD Degree and 49 disciplines authorized to confer Master’s Degree. 30,664 full-time students, including 14,536 full-time postgraduate students and nearly 2,000 international students are studying here. SEU features a high-level faculty comprising 2,899 full-time teachers, including 2,434 teachers with PhD degree. There’re also 11 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 academician of the Academy of Europe.

　　SEU is a research-oriented comprehensive university directly under the administration of MOE (Ministry of Education, China). The disciplines of SEU covers the fields of science, engineering, medicine, humanities, law, philosophy, education, economics, management, art, etc. In 2017, SEU is in the selected list of universities which will participate in the country’s construction plan of world-class universties and first-class disciplines, also known as the “Double First-Class” initiative. 11 SEU’s deciplines of material science and engineering, electronic science and technology, information and communication engineering, control science and engineering, computer science and technology, architecture, civil engineering, transportation engineering, biological and medical engineering, landscape architecture, art theory are in the selected list of deciplines. In MOE’s national discipline assessment of 2017, SEU’s disciplines of architecture, civil engineering, biomedical engineering, transportation engineering, artistic theory rank No. 1. 11 disciplines are ranked among top 1% of ESI internationally, in which, engineering is listed at No. 25 with computer science at No. 22. Both disciplines are ranked among top 1‰ of ESI internationally. SEU is a institution with 3 national key labs, 11 ministerial key labs, 4 national engineering research centers and 6 ministerial engineering research centers.

　　SEU attaches great importance to international cooperation & exchanges. Agreements of cooperation have been signed with more than 100 universities, research institutes or corporations in international countries. In particular, in 2017, SEU initiated the establishment of the “Sino-British University Engineering Education and Research Consortium”, which is the first university consortium between China and UK with engineering education and research as the highlight. Then 9 prestigious British universities including Queen's University Belfast, University of Birmingham, Cambridge University, Cardiff University, University of Leeds, University of Liverpool, University College London, University of Nottingham and Warwick University joined the Consortium.

　　2. About International Students at SEU

　　SEU began to accept international students in 1950’s. Currently nearly 2000 international students from more than 100 countries are studying at SEU. Among them nearly 800 are graduated students and the percentage of the degree students are 78.4%. Besides all Chinese-instructed programs, international students can take Chinese classes at various levels, participate in tour study programs, or choose English-taught programs, including English-taught medical undergraduate program and 14 English-taught master’s programs of international trade/international business, public health, architecture, electronic and information engineering, electronic science and technology, electrical engineering, civil engineering, transportation engineering, computer technology, industrial design engineering, instrument and meter engineering, power engineeing and thermal physics, biology, artistic theory. SEU is authorized to accept the students sponsored by Chinese Government Scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship, Jiangsu Province Scholarship and Nanjing Municipal Government Scholarship. Besides, excellent international students will be awarded SEU President Scholarship and Enterprise Scholarship.

东南大学一贯重视国际交流合作，已和100多所国外大学、研究机构和公司签订了合作协议。特别是2017年，东南大学发起成立了“中英大学工程教育与研究联盟”，是中国与英国合作建立的第一个以工程教育与研究为特色的大学联盟，贝尔法斯特女王大学、伯明翰大学、剑桥大学、卡迪夫大学、利兹大学、利物浦大学、伦敦大学学院、诺丁汉大学和华威大学等9所英国著名高校加入联盟。

　　2. 留学生教育简介

　　东南大学自上世纪50年代开始接受国际学生，是国内最早招收国际学生的高校之一。目前有近2000名来自100多个国家的国际学生在校学习，其中研究生近800人，学历生占比78.4%。国际学生除了可以选择所有汉语授课的课程之外，还可以选择不同级别的汉语课，参加短期游学项目，或者选择英语授课项目。我校2006年开设针对国际学生的全英文授课临床医学本科项目；我校已招收国际学生的英文授课硕士项目有建筑学、土木工程、交通运输工程、计算机科学与工程、电子与通信工程、电子科学与技术、电气工程、动力工程与工程热物理、国际贸易学、仪器仪表工程、工业设计工程、生物学，艺术学理论、公共卫生等14个项目。东南大学不仅是中国政府奖学金、孔子学院奖学金、江苏省奖学金和南京市政府奖学金院校，而且设有东南大学“校长奖学金”和企业奖学金以奖励优秀国际学生。
